Former Chelsea football player Wayne Bridge is in Australia not to play the round leather game but participate in hit TV programme I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here 2016.

The former Manchester City fullback follows in the steps of other former Premier League stars in partaking in this year’s series.

In the programme’s first episode, Bridge is seen skydiving out of a helicopter as he entered the jungle as part of the plans alongside other sport and showbiz stars. There are other football stars who have been invited in other television shows, and Rodney Marsh and Kieron Dyer are stars that have participated in the same one as Bridge.

Wayne Bridge retired from active football in 2014 after years playing at Man City, Chelsea, Southampton, and Reading, aside other loan deals. On the international scene, he featured in 36 games for the Three Lions until his retirement from international football.

Aside Marsh and Dyer, Nigerian John Fashanu, Neil Ruddock and Jimmy Bullard have appeared in other series of the same show in the past. Bridge would live on a campsite alongside the other stars as they complete tasks to earn food and rewards during their time there. The venue is Australia, and the stars are supervised from a distance as they try to live normally and entertain viewers.

Some other stars that starred in other television series include Robbie Savage who was on Strictly Come Dancing in 2011. Emile Heskey has been on Kids TV programme EMU-TV, Wayne Rooney on Street Striker, Danny Mills on Celebrity Masterchef, Rio Ferdinand in World Cup wind-ups, Dion Dublin in Homes Under The Hammer, Vinnie Jones has been on Celebrity Big Bother, Lee Sharpe on Celebrity Love Island, amongst many others.
