BOLTON WANDERERS NEARING NEW OWNERSHIP

Championship Outfit Bolton Wanderers are set to for a change in ownership as the club chairman Ken Anderson is close to selling his stake in the club. Anderson revealed that he had agreed on a deal in principle to sell his stake in the club.

Bolton have been struggling in recent years since their relegation to the lower league and this could be a sign of good news for the club. Anderson’s company Inner Circle Investment holds about 95 percent stake in the club and plans to sell its stake in Bolton’s parent company Burnden Leisure.

Although Anderson did not reveal the name of the consortium looking to buy the club some of the details have leaked to the press.   It is understood that Future Ventures Consortium led by businessman Parminder Basran and Sharon Brittan are the new owners of the club.

The transfer of ownership is pending until approved by the English Football League after which Future Ventures can take charge of the day to day activities of the club. according to reports Anderson is not expected to remain at Bolton in any capacity when the deal is finalized.

Bolton have been facing difficulties in recent months with the club narrowly escaping going into administration last September. The club had to solicit a loan of £5million from former owner Eddie Davies. Also, the club had issues paying players wages last season with the players going on strike during the summer.

There is also a pending case about their finances with the countries Revenue body which could affect the future of the club. These administrative problems have spilled unto the pitch as the club currently lies 23rd on the table 4 points off safety.

It remains to be seen if this new transfer of ownership would be able to steer the club in the right direction.
